Beyond the Blocks collects information you provide directly when creating an account, including your name, email address, date of birth, and USA Swimming member ID (optional). For athletes, we collect sports performance data including meet results, practice times, sleep logs, nutrition logs, and training plan completion data. For coaches and club administrators, we collect team management data including rosters, workout plans, and attendance records.
We use your data to provide the Beyond the Blocks platform, including AI-generated training plans, performance predictions, nutrition targets, and coaching insights. We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. Your performance data is used solely to improve your experience within the platform.
Your data is shared only with: (a) coaches and club administrators on teams you are a member of, as necessary for team management; (b) parent/guardian accounts you have linked to your profile; (c) service providers who help us operate the platform (Supabase for data storage, Stripe for billing, Anthropic for AI features). We do not share your data with any other third parties.
Our commitment to protecting young athletes:
When an athlete turns 13, their parent receives a notification to invite the athlete to create their own account. Upon account creation, all historical data (meet results, personal bests) transfers to the athlete's new account. The parent account transitions from data owner to linked viewer, and the athlete gains control of their own privacy settings.
Parents and guardians of athletes under 13 have the right to: review all data collected about their child; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion of their child's data; and withdraw consent for data collection at any time. To exercise these rights, contact team@beyondtheblocks.io.
Athletes aged 16 and older can control what data is visible to linked parent accounts through their Privacy Settings. This includes the ability to show or hide nutrition data, sleep data, and coach notes from parent view. Athletes under 16 with their own accounts (ages 13-15) have their data fully visible to linked parent accounts.
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (TLS), secure data storage with Supabase, and row-level security policies that ensure users can only access data they are authorized to see. We do not store passwords in plain text.
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed. Meet results and team data that has been shared with coaches and teams may be retained in anonymized form for team records. You can request complete deletion by contacting us.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
For questions about this privacy policy or to exercise your data rights, contact us at team@beyondtheblocks.io.
