Linking a Parent Account

Parents get their own free Beyond the Blocks account that connects to your swimmer. Here's how to invite them — and how to link multiple swimmers to one parent.

About 3 minutes

For: Swimmers, Parents, Coaches

Why this matters

Parent accounts are separate from swimmer accounts on purpose. Parents see meet results, schedules, and billing — but not private things like coach chats or sleep logs. And one parent account can follow multiple kids, so families with two or three swimmers only need one login.

Step-by-step

  1. 1

    Athlete opens Settings → Family

From the swimmer's account, tap Settings in the bottom nav, then the Family tab. You'll see a list of any parents already linked and a button to invite a new one.

  2. 2

Tap 'Invite a Parent' and enter their email

Enter the parent's email address. If your parent doesn't have an email, you can use one of yours — just make sure they can check it. If two parents want separate accounts, add them one at a time.

    You'll know it worked when

The parent's email appears in the Family list with a 'Pending' tag.

  3. 3

Parent checks their email and clicks the blue button

The parent gets an email from team@beyondtheblocks.io titled 'Your swimmer invited you to Beyond the Blocks'. Opening the email and clicking the blue button starts the account setup.

  4. 4

    Parent creates a free account

The parent enters a password and lands on their parent dashboard. Parent accounts are always free. If the parent already has an account (because another swimmer invited them before), they can just log in and the new swimmer appears on their dashboard automatically.

    You'll know it worked when

The parent's status on the swimmer's Family page changes from 'Pending' to 'Connected'. The parent sees the swimmer's name at the top of their own dashboard.

  5. 5

    (Optional) Add a second parent

Repeat the process from step 2 with a second parent's email. Each parent gets their own login, their own notification settings, and their own view of the swimmer's data. Both can approve meet entries and pay invoices.
